Questions:

Congratulations on all of your success as a Plus Size Model.  How did you get started modelling? I did my first shoot in college, but was not very serious about modeling until about 5 years ago when I really started to have true confidence. I’m an extrovert so going to shoots, meeting new people, being creative; it all keeps a smile on my face.

What has been your favourite experience thus far – the one you are most proud of?  Anytime I get to meet other artists and shoot together is the best. I am grateful for all shoots I’ve been a part of and can’t say just one was special, they all are.

Just like any craft there is a learning curve – how did you learn how to model – both print and runway if applicable?

I am still learning! HA Keeping up on more well-known models, studying their poses and practicing is the key for me. Also, I believe speaking with others in the industry to learn from each other is very helpful. Anytime you can share experiences, good or bad, it helps in the long run.

Did you have mentors or role models who helped and inspired you along the way? I have always looked up to a lot of other models and I still do. Of course the two big ones are Tess Holiday and Ashley Graham. They are very different but both such role models and have paved the way for so many other models. I am also a long-time fan of London Andrews, who I have watched grow for years.

The Plus Size Industry has changed and continues to evolve – how do you think as a model you are able to help make an impact in how the world sees plus size women?

I hope I am able to show men and woman that they can be beautiful and confident no matter how they look. Once you own who you are and fully embrace yourself you feel different, almost brighter, because you aren’t pressuring yourself to live up to society’s idiotic standards. Once you cross that line your self-esteem flourishes. I want everyone who enjoys my photos and looks up to me to feel that way. It takes time and it definitely isn’t easy, but it can happen to everyone.

You exude confidence with every step you take, were you always this confident?  Tell us a little bit about the journey to confidence.

Definitely not! It has taken me many years to build my confidence up and I still have down days just like anyone else.  I think the more you let yourself experience life, the more you will believe in yourself. Having confidence is more than just body confidence. You need to be positive about your entire self, from brains to booty! Don’t ever feel like you can’t do something, you don’t know until you try!

For our readers who are interested in starting a plus model career, what would you suggest are some top tips to get started?

Network, hustle, and say thank you to all who help you along the way.

As a model you’ve had the opportunity to wear a variety of different styles, but what would we catch you in on an ‘off duty’ day?  What would you call your fashion sense and how has this evolved through your modelling career?

My usual everyday look is very low key, leggings and a tee, no makeup, air dry my hair. As a mom to an 8 year old I stay busy and comfort is key to me.

What are you some of your favourite places to shop your style?

Like so many others, I LOVE Torrid. I can always find something I enjoy there and their sizing is always on point for me. I know I am always a size 2.  Plus, I wear a lot of dresses and they have so many options.

I also love CurvySense! I have just recently gotten some of their clothing and can’t say enough how well made it is and how sexy I feel in it all. I also enjoy Rebdolls and Lane Bryant. I do most of my shopping online so I pick up random bodysuits and dresses from Amazon also.

What does life look for you outside of the modelling world?

Some might be surprised but I have a pretty laid back day to day life. I do still work a day job in an office, which I enjoy. I’m married and have an 8 year old son and 2 teenage step kids. Life is quite full with all the family engagements and date nights with the hubby.
