I am Rupali Raut, a single mother and plus size model from India.

My life has been full of ups and downs.

My marriage lasted for 1 year and 9 months. It was hell. My husband abused me and cheated on me and, as a result, I lost all self-confidence.

But I fought for my children and moved away.

Two years ago, my life took a turn. I began pursuing a career as a boudoir and lingerie model, something I had wanted to be since childhood. My friends and family didn’t approve, but I was determined to achieve my goal.

Being plus size in India is often seen as shameful, or a joke. I’m here breaking stereotypes, and I hope to to spread positive attitudes toward the plus size community.

Plus does not equal shame. I want all plus size men and women to start loving their bodies and accepting them.

And I have a message for all single moms: don’t just sit inside, come out of your insecurity, face your fears and start living for yourself and your children.
