For over a decade, Katie Pippin, creator of Lineagewear, has been designing costumes for Broadway. She knows a thing or two about designing quality items that are required to last a long time and hold up performance after performance. With all this expertise, Katie has now turned her focus to making leggings that are fashionable and functional, that are as robust as the costumes that hit the stage on Broadway in New York.
Her first order started off as a custom request for a friend and has since snowballed into something that is now full-time. Katie became aware of the demand for plus size clothing, which is why she expanded her line. Lineage wear is currently available in sizes up to 3XL and will be expanding soon to include up to 5XL.Feedback has been amazing – the only complaint is that consumers want more! Most of the fabrics are chosen by Katie from the garment district in New York and all of the items are made in her shop by Katie and her team. Top notch quality means 100% confidence in what will be arriving at the customer’s doorstep every single time.
Katie comes from a lineage of quality workmanship. She is descended from Sally Ann Parsons, who is descended from Ray Diffen, who worked for the great Charles James. She wants each of her customers to say that these are my favorite pair of pants. When it comes to starting your own business, Katie says it’s important to put communication high on the list of ideal skills. Networking is also very important as well as maintaining relationships and listening to the ideas of others. Business is all about being able to communicate with other people, especially your customers. We are such big fans of Lineage wear! Size inclusive designers who make quality products, like Katie does, will continue to be highly sought after in the plus size market. We hope that other retailers and designers take on the same attitude towards us so we continue to see an increase in choice for the plus size consumer.
