fabUplus Magazine: How did you get started as an influencer? What kind of content do you create, and what’s your main channel?
Jessica Stewart: I became a micro-influencer in October of 2019. I felt like I had something to offer my fellow plus-size sisters. My content is geared towards finding great plus-size styles on a budget and in unlikely places. My main channel is Instagram, where I post outfits that are stylish and cost-effective. It’s a way of life for me.
fabUplus Magazine: What type of modeling do you do? How did you get started as a model? What’s an average workweek like for you?
Jessica Stewart: I am a plus-size fashion model. I began modeling after years of my family and friends helping me understand that there are a lot of ladies out there who could use some style tips and my guidance. This would help women understand that you don’t have to be a size 12 to find reasonably priced clothes that are still cute. The average workweek for me consists of planning out my social media posts, finding deals online and in-store to share, and finding brands that have cute clothing for plus-size bodies. I love exposing brands that do and don’t support plus-size bodies so that sisters know what’s happening.
fabUplus Magazine: Describe your personal style. What are some of your signature colors, styles, and accessories?
Jessica Stewart: My personal style is a mix of minimalist and classic beauty. I love a bold red lip with a very natural makeup look. I love to style myself in shades of red, pink, and orange. I usually keep my accessories to no more than two locations, for example, a bracelet and earrings, or a bold necklace and a beautiful ring. My style summed up in the C’s: classy, comfortable, and cost-effective!
fabUplus Magazine: If you could go back in time and give yourself advice as a little girl, what would you tell her?
Jessica Stewart: I would say don’t be ashamed of the round, a mountain of a behind the Lord gave you… Embrace it! It will come in handy one day.
fabUplus Magazine: For our readers who struggle with being comfortable in their own skin and wearing what they want, what are some practical things you would recommend they do to help them get to the level of confidence you have?
Jessica Stewart: Haters are gonna hate… Don’t let people project their own insecurities onto you. Ignore the naysayers and nurture the skin you are in. It’s the only one you get.
fabUplus Magazine: What are your goals and dreams as an influencer or model? What accomplishments are you most proud of?
Jessica Stewart: My dream as a model and micro-influencer is to create an army of women who are so confident it scares you. My end goal is to have a plus-size influencer agency for men and women. What I am most proud of is the opportunity given to me by SLIICK, a local clothing brand that gave me my first publication. For that, I will be forever grateful.
fabUplus Magazine: What are some of your favorite shopping and styling tips?
Jessica Stewart: My favorite shopping tip is to SHOP OFF SEASON and BUY WARDROBE STAPLES IN EVERY COLOR… In my stylish opinion, comfort and cost are the most important thing. I am not usually concerned with “what’s hot,” but with what looks good on my body. I believe I can make any outfit work as long as I am confident in it.
fabUplus Magazine: From where do you draw inspiration for your work?
Jessica Stewart: My inspiration comes from the plus models and influencers who have come before me, and the genius in my head who steers me. They help me remember to always continue to celebrate my size above all else.
fabUplus Magazine: What can readers expect next – do you have anything exciting you would like to share with us?
Jessica Stewart: I plan on staging a plus-size beauty calendar with local beauties who embrace their size and their style. I know it will be amazing!
