Model Monday- Meet Chaquita Jones
What type of modeling do you do? How did you get started as a model? What’s an average work week like for you? I do plus size modeling. I just got started. I work 32 to 40hrs a week
What are some tips you’d like to share with aspiring influencers or models? I would like to say be comfortable first and for most. Have fun doing what you love. Don’t try too hard it should come naturally.
If you could go back in time and give yourself advice as a little girl, what would you tell her? I would tell that little girl to walk with her head high and don’t be discouraged because you are a little “fluffier” than the others you’re still beautiful.
For our readers who struggle with being comfortable in their own skin and wearing what they want, what are some practical things you would recommend they do to help them get to the level of confidence you have? I would say get something that compliments your body type. Somethings that looks good on others may not fit the way you like it. For instance being a plus size model I know what flatters my shape and what doesn’t. Last but not least I would have to say LOVE yourself and be confident!
What does life look like for you outside of blogging or modeling (day job, hobbies, family life, etc)? Life outside of modeling is pretty average. I’m a mom to two beautiful kids. I’m a manager in Retail. I’m always changing up my hair from colors to styles I’m not afraid of trying new things.
What does being an influencer or model mean to you? What do you hope it means to others? Being a model means to me that I’m continuing to pave the way for plus size women all over the world just because you are a little bigger doesn’t mean you are not gorgeous. I hope it means to others they are unique and gorgeous no matter what size; believe in yourself.
What does beauty mean to you? Beauty means to me being comfortable in your own skin and being able to wear almost anything with confidence. Loving YOURSELF!
How has your body image and self-esteem changed over the years? My body image hasn’t changed too much. My self-esteem has sky rocketed. I am so much more in love with who I am then who I used to be. Life has been nothing short of amazing.
From where do you draw inspiration for your work? I pull inspiration from all my plus sized divas. There are so many beautiful ladies in all shape and sizes.
What can readers expect next – do you have anything exciting you would like to share with us? I’m just starting out but be on the look out for me. My next shoot is going to be Fire!
