“Chocolate Jessica: A Jessica Rabbit’s Tale”
From “Who Framed Roger Rabbit”
We love Halloween and so does this beauty La’Toya!
La’Toya, what promoted you to do this amazing photo shoot?
Well like everyone else in this world, I was completely mesmerized by Jessica Rabbit when I first saw the movie “Roger Rabbit” as a child. Besides being insanely gorgeous, Jessica was voluptuous!!! I was so thrilled to see a curvy woman rocking the stage with such confidence and swagger. She owned the room and everyone in it. She took every guy’s breath away and she wasn’t skinny. The introduction scene of Jessica Rabbit inspired this little girl who struggled with her weight all of her life, to hold her head up high and to embrace the body that God gave her. From that moment forward, I was a huge fan of Jessica Rabbit.
You have amazing confidence – where did this come from?
In 2013, I was physically attacked for the last time by my ex husband. During those dark hours in my life, my confidence level was below average and I was running on fumes. I felt fat, ugly, and alone. I was hurt and I was humiliated. I felt as if I wasn’t loved. Through God, therapy, love, support, and much prayer I stand before you today as a changed woman. The woman who had struggled for years with her weight and insecurities now encourages others through her testimony of words and pictures. A former self-hating Queen now rocking the runway with her head held high and not taking any flack from anyone. As a celebration to myself, I decided to do a photo shoot in honor of the voluptuous animated woman who through her confidence and stage presence showed me that it was “ok” to look the way that I look and “own it”!
What advice might you have for someone out there who is struggling with insecurities?
My advice is to love God, admire His Divine Craftsmanship which is you, discover what you like and don’t like while falling in love with yourself. Falling in love with you will be one of the best decisions that you will ever make. Through self love, you will discover a great and many wonderful things about you. It will radiate beams of positivity through you and affect those around you. As long As you know that you have it going on, then that to me is “positive”. You are your own body positive movement
