Hello world my name is Telethia Penn, I’ve been a plus runway model for 8 years in Atlanta Ga. I attended John Cassablanca modeling and acting school. I started my modeling career doing a host of fashion shows in Atlanta, Florida, and New York. I signed with Diva day International a non exclusive agency in April 2007. I’m now working as a freelance model on my suppa grind. I’ve appeared in a few fashion publications such as Marie Claire and Vibe. and more to come. I love what I do and very blessed to be able to. Watch out for me in some hot plus Fashion magazines and a runway near You!!

Congratulations on all of your success as a Model. You’ve hit the runway all around the US and even Paris, have had several magazine features and so many other amazing opportunities! How did you get started modelling?

Thank you so much, I always wanted to model, but never saw anyone like me. One day I was in the grocery store and a women asked me if I ever thought of modeling, I told her yes, she was from a modeling school called John Casablanca I attended and that’s where my model life began.

What has been your favourite experience thus far – the one you are most proud of?

My favorite experience thus far would be modeling for Pulp Fashion Week in Paris France.

Just like any craft there is a learning curve – how did you learn how to model – both print and runway? Did you have mentors who helped you along the way?

Well, Like I mentioned I attended John Casablanca modeling school, I then received additional training from Msnickee of Diva Day International, There I’v learned a lot from posing to runway and much more. I can name a few Mentors, Msnickee, Gwen Devoe, and Sharon Quinn. I have took something from all these women and applied it to my model career.

The Plus Size Industry has changed and continues to evolve – how do you think as a model you are able to help make an impact in how the world sees plus size women?

Yes it has change a lot (for the better) The impact I feel I make is to love the skin you in. Not only I am a plus woman but I’m a 6ft 3in woman. I feel the confidence I have inspired women to embrace their curves. Love who you are TODAY! and know that you can be healthy and plus.

You exude confidence with every step you take, were you always this confident? Tell us a little bit about the journey to confidence.

Thank you, no I didn’t always have confidence, matter of fact I hated my height, My mother is the reason I walk with confidence. She taught me to stand up straight and that I was beautiful just how God made me.

For our readers who are interested in starting a plus model career, what would you suggest are some top tips to get started?

The tips I always give inspiring models is to know your craft, study, know your lane, and ride it out. learn what type of modeling works for you.

As a model you’ve had the opportunity to wear a variety of different styles, but what would we catch you in on an off duty day? What would you call your fashion sense and how has this evolved through your modeling career?

On my off duty days are the days that I’m most creative I can take the time to express my sense of fashion. those days my wardrobe usually consist of very elegant and classic pieces.I would say I’m always ready for the runway. through out my modeling career, the vast knowledge and relationships that Ive built I would say that my fashion sense has become a lost less trendy and I have learned to build my own personal panache.
