Everyday, people all over the world seem to be at war with numbers. Dress and pant sizes, weight, BMI’s, calories, and many more. I am here to ask you to join me in a movement. It is time to take back the power these numbers hold so we can live a life of freedom, happiness, healthy living, and, most importantly, self love and respect.
All of these numbers, seem to tell us things we need to change about ourselves. We are bombarded with messages in the media of how to lower all of these numbers, as if the lower you can get, the better, and that is the only option if you wish to be beautiful or successful.
Dress sizes are different ACROSS the industry and even the world. Take it from a plus size model. I have sizes 8-18 in my closet. Does wearing a size 18 dress instead of a size 8 make me a terrible person? No! Does it make me any less beautiful? HELL no!
A scale can only tell you a number that represents your body’s gravitational pull towards the earth. It is a loose guide to health but must NOT be listened to as the ruler. BMI numbers do not take things into account such as bone density, and water weight, so therefor, cannot be used to determine if a person is “healthy” or the “right” weight.
Next time those pesky numbers have you down, just say NO! Do NOT give them the power…YOU hold the power over THEM! Tell those numbers how you rocked your work presentation, or how much you love your family and they love you in return. Show those numbers how you can look sexy no matter if you are a size 2 or 20.
Instead of counting calories, let’s count our accomplishments! Instead of counting dress sizes, let’s count our blessings! Remember all the amazing things your body can do for you. You are worth SO much more than a number on a tag or scale. Take back the control that those numbers have over you and start celebrating the end of the War with Numbers! We’re Free!
