A Guest Article from Emma Medieros

There was so much fabulous fashion in this year’s Full Figured Fashion Week that we just couldn’t squeeze it all into one or even two articles! Be sure to enjoy Pandemic, Shmandemic; Full Figured Fashion Week MUST Go On! Parts 1 and 2 (Include the links here) if you missed them!

Sunday is supposed to be the day of rest, right? Well, not Sunday, June 28th; there was too much fashion going on to sleep in! With the coronavirus pandemic essentially bringing events in every industry to a screeching halt, event producers everywhere chimed in to the “POPE (Producers of Plus Events) Panel”, desperate for advice on how to keep their business going. “Pivot, don’t panic” was the mantra of the day and viewers learned lots of ways to live it from moderator Marcy Cruz, creator of Fearlessly Just Me (https://www.instagram.com/fearlesslyjustme/) and panelists Tanja Marfo (https://www.instagram.com/kurvenrausch/), CEO and founder of Plus Size Fashion Days Hamburg, Mallory B.Richardson (https://www.instagram.com/malthemodel/), creator of Crusade of Curves (https://www.instagram.com/crusadeofcurves/), Kathy Blaze Jefferson (https://www.instagram.com/kathyblaze/), CEO and founder of Blazing Curves (https://www.instagram.com/blazingcurves/), Tania Capree, CEO and founder of Thixotix Modeling Troupe (https://www.instagram.com/thixotix/), Angela Rivers, creator of Ohio Kurvy Fashion Weekend (https://www.instagram.com/okfw_theshow/). Becky Jarvis, owner of Curvy Chic Closet (https://www.instagram.com/curvychicclosetpdx/), Mickey Armstrong, creator and producer of District of Curves (https://www.instagram.com/districtofcurves/), and Theresa Randolph, creator of Ms. Full Figured USA (https://www.instagram.com/msfullfiguredusa/). Topics covered included the growing need to go virtual, promoting your virtual event, and creating a true experience for attendees.

Afterwards, the “Faith Fest Finale” gave some much-needed inspiration and motivating energy with gospel talent and poetry from performers Lynx Garcia (https://www.instagram.com/supersizespanishfly/), Jamaal St. John (https://www.instagram.com/boondocksaint0920/), Dawn Tallman (https://www.instagram.com/dawntallman/), Donna Perry (https://www.instagram.com/i_am_donna_perry/), and Elijah Scott (https://www.facebook.com/FREZHBIGBOI), uplifting the spirits of everyone who tuned in!

And last but certainly not least was “The ULTIMATE Guide for Building a Profitable Fashion Brand” workshop on Monday, June 29th. Hosted by Monif Clarke (https://www.instagram.com/monifclarke/, CEO of Monif C. Plus Sizes (https://www.instagram.com/monifcplussizes/), struggling small business owners discovered how to turn their passion for fashion into a profitable business, even during these trying times, learning how to find reputable manufacturers, to get featured in major magazines & TV shows, and to get more people to shop their brand.

Full Figured Fashion Week would not have been possible without the generosity of sponsors such as Bandelettes (https://www.instagram.com/bandelettes/), Boots by Pamela (https://www.instagram.com/bootsbypamela/), Curvy Chic Closet (https://www.instagram.com/curvychicclosetpdx/), Fashionable and Thick (https://www.instagram.com/fashionableandthickfoundation/), Lane Bryant (https://www.instagram.com/lanebryant/), MsBeYouDoYou (https://www.instagram.com/msbeyoudoyou/), NVUS Boutique (https://www.instagram.com/nvusfashionsboutique/),

 and many, many more.

Thank you to all!!!

Based in NYC, Emma received her degree in Integrated Marketing Communications from Boston’s Emerson College and started Medeiros Fashion Public Relations in 2015 after realizing that, out of the thousands of fashion public relations firms in the US, not ONE of them specialized in this exploding industry. With a mixture of class and sass, the goal of Medeiros Fashion Public Relations is to place plus size fashion on an equal footing with straight size fashion. Emma declares, “There’s absolutely NO reason for them to be separate and, once I accomplish that, I can die a happy woman!”
