DragCon was everything I thought it would be and more. There were photo ops set up all around the convention center, from a step and repeat with pink palm trees to a life-size cutout of RuPaul next to a red convertible. All around the massive South Hall, there were meet and greet areas for famous Drag Queens, vendor booths, and art installations.
Friday was a preview night, where weekend pass holders could take a lay of the land and get in line for tickets to meet their favorite artists. Everyone kept it casual as they explored this year’s layout. Come Saturday, it seemed like I was in the middle of a dream with all the amazing outfits and costumes I saw.
There was a lavish pink carpet set up from the main entrance, so everyone could enter like royalty. It was only fitting that people showed up in their most over-the-top looks. The plus size fashion was giving me major inspo so I’m here to share some of my favorite looks of the weekend.
Checkmate: This mix of two-tone with bright orange is seamlessly mixing pin-up looks with Y2K with indie 500. I am here for all of it.
These beauties were serving classic pageant queen looks. You can never go wrong with a full glam.
I’m always excited to see indie designs out and about. So, when I saw this babe in a pink suit from Premme, I had to take snap a shot. The tee shirt and flatforms keep it casual and cute.
Sequins from head to toe? Need I say more?
A spot of tea anyone?
I found these two at the intersection of Candyland and a double rainbow.
I’m actually upset that I don’t own a flamingo dress.
You go, Glen Coco. Fresh off tour, Actor and Comedian Daniel Franzese kept it casual and cute with a classic denim vest for all the pins while meeting fans. I was able to catch him moderating a body positive panel on Sunday. I’m so glad we are having this conversation more and more.
Hello, pink goddess. Yes, I would like to be your best friend. Thank you for asking.
LA-based indie designer Cesar Cummings and his partner Kalvin sporting his harness tees.
Who doesn’t need a bedazzled harness?
This couple came ready to rep the purple one.
At one point, an impromptu “I Love Lucy” skit played out right in front of me. It was one of my favorite moments of the weekend.
I hope you enjoyed these looks as much as I did. There is nothing better than being in a space with people that are so passionately expressing their individuality. The creativity put into these looks gave me a renewed excitement for personal style.
