Spring Clean Your Beauty Routine

Oh, Spring! It’s the perfect time to revamp, reorganize and renew your makeup drawer.
Every product has a different shelf life. Typically, foundation, primers, and other cream/gel-based products have a shelf life of 6 months to a year. Powders can have a slightly longer shelf life of about 18 months. Mascara has the lowest shelf life, of about 3 months. It is extremely important to remember to swap your cosmetics out regularly to avoid any contaminations. And please do not allow your friends or family to use your cosmetics. Keep yourself safe, don’t share your makeup. Remember to go through your makeup bag/drawer on a regular basis to maintain a healthy beauty lineup.
My favorite product for sanitizing my personal makeup and my professional kit is “Beauty So Clean”. This product comes in a spray or wipe form and can sanitize your makeup fast and effectively. If “Beauty So Clean” is not available, an isopropyl alcohol of 90% or higher is a good substitute.
The first step to a radiant spring makeup look is beautiful, dewy skin. Always remember to wash, tone, and moisturize your skin. Allow about 10 minutes for your moisturizer to soak in before moving on to foundation. Next, apply your foundation, and powder your face as needed.
Add a tiny amount of blush to the cheekbones to add color and youthfulness back to the face. When applying your blush, look into the mirror but do not smile. When we smile, our cheekbones elevate and can distort the placement of the blush. Simply look straight into the mirror with no expression on your face. Find your cheekbone (the highest point of your cheek) and apply the blush about one finger-length down. Using swirling motions, take the blush gently to the temples to lift the face.
Mascara adds color, length, and volume to the lashes while also opening the eye. Apply a generous coat of mascara to your lashes.
Brows are quickly becoming the most important finishing touch in the beauty world. It is crazy to see the difference a little bit of brow filling can do. I prefer powder as it is a natural look with just enough drama.
Finally, add a little gloss to your lips and complete your look.
