MEET 16-YEAR-OLD DANCER Amanda LaCount

Amanda LaCount’s story began when she was just two years old. She started dancing and this progressed into her being a very skilful and successful dancer today. She followed her two older sisters into dance and has loved to do it ever since. As a big girl, this journey hasn’t always been easy.

Amanda has been told more times that she cares to remember that she was ‘too fat’ to be a dancer. She has had to develop her own sense of self-worth and this has been fuelled by the fact that she can remind herself that dancing simply makes her happy. When she is dancing, Amanda feels beautiful. The style and grace that she has makes her look beautiful too. Those that told her she couldn’t dance because of her size were just plain wrong. She is taking the world by storm!

Many of Amanda LaCount’s videos have gone viral. The first was when her mom persuaded her to dance in public when they saw other dancers near Santa Monica Pier. The video that her mom took on her phone was uploaded to Instagram and Facebook and went viral. From there she has videos with millions of views and gained fans from across the globe. All from a simple video taken by her mom!

One of the biggest events of her career so far was the WE LA DAY at the Forum in Inglewood where she performed in front of 17,000 people straight after Paula Abdul and Demi Lovato. Amanda has grown in confidence from the performances like this that have given her a stage to showcase her talent. No matter what size or shape you are, you have talents that you can bring to the world. If you have a dream then don’t let anyone tell you that you are not the right size or weight to follow that dream. Just get out there and make it happen!

The future for Amanda LaCount looks as bright as the present. She aspires to help others feel good about the way they are. She is looking to continue her education while developing her career. It looks like it will be a busy time!
