I am Enough
Heather Mae – Singer-Songwriter
Heather Mae has always been a big girl; big voice, big personality, big hair. A big girl with a big body and she has a BIG message to share.
After a successful singing career, in 2013 Heather was diagnosed with a large cyst and nodule on her vocal chords and was told she might never be able to sing again….
“Being told I might never be able to sing again was the worst and best thing to ever happen to me,” Heather says. “How often does someone get to stop everything and start over?”
Heather was suddenly faced with a lot of time on her hands; in the stillness, she had time to reflect. She had one mission—to become the best version of herself. And that she did. She threw out her old definition of success and created a new one. It was exactly 527 days after her diagnosis that she stepped foot into the recording studio to begin cutting her next record.
“I want to write music for those that need an anthem: plus size bodies, those struggling with depression, women all over the world struggling for their voice to be heard, it’s time for a change.”
After a successful Kickstarter campaign, Heather headed back into the recording studio and recorded an amazing new album with the title song called “I am enough”. Her powerful message epitomizes body positive and self-acceptance. Messages like “my body is not wrong, my body is not shameful… I am through with apologizing for looking this way”.
“Everyday we are told that we are not good enough, that there is someone thinner, healthier happier and more successful than us.” I am enough is all about changing the definition of enough, and realizing that we are perfect just the way we are. Her music is encouraging, uplifting and empowers women to love themselves just as they are.
