Do you ever feel like pulling the covers back over your head when that morning alarm goes off? Is stress taking you into a tailspin? Making you feel moody, irritated, depressed and most of all making you feel tired but wired? Getting up and facing the world is getting more and more difficult.
Our bodies are in an energy crisis. We are doing more, demanding more, and wanting more. We are constantly stressed, causing us to reach for coffee or energy drinks just to keep us up with life. At the end of the day, we don’t have much left to give to family, friends or hobbies.
Fortunately, there are steps you can take to bring back your bounce and passion for life. A big part of the puzzle is consuming the right foods. Here are the top go-to foods and nutrients that will put the spring back in your step!
Vitamin C: This nutrient is your stress’s best friend.
All of your B vitamins: Especially B5 (which is considered the anti-stress vitamin) and B12 to provide a boost of energy.
Magnesium: To help calm the nervous system.
Omega 3: This powerful nutrient helps with your mood and helps to boost immunity.
Zinc: This is responsible for numerous biological processes including mood and energy regulation.
Vitamin D: This is a key nutrient in mood regulation.
Foods rich in nutrients that will boost energy are: kale, chard, hemp, chia and flax seed, walnuts, Brazil nuts, pumpkin and sesame seeds, blueberries, broccoli, cocoa, squash seeds, quinoa, bell peppers, kiwi, papaya, oranges, beans, and mushrooms.
Although many factors need to be taken into consideration when it comes to increasing energy and elevating moods, such as lifestyle, toxins, traumas and emotional blocks, choosing the right foods is a great way to start.
