Model Monday- Meet Telethia
It is a busy time in the life of Telethia Penn as modeling assignments keep on rolling in. Telethia has been a runway model for 8 years now and, in that time, has hit national recognition, including work in Paris. As a young girl, she always wanted to model but never saw other models that looked like her. Then one day, when Telethia was in a grocery store, she was approached by someone from a modeling agency and that was the beginning of her modeling career.
Telethia wasn’t always a person who exuded confidence. In her youth she hated her height and didn’t have a lot of self-confidence about her appearance. She has learned that if you are able to be positive about your body, it changes the way that you carry yourself and how others see you. Telethia has her mother to thank for teaching her that she is beautiful the way she is and that she should walk tall.
Telethia loves fashion and has a strong sense of her own unique style. She is not one to follow the latest trends, rather she dresses in a way that makes her look classy and feel confident. Her wardrobe features elegant and classy pieces that are often custom-designed to fit her personal style and flair.
The changes that the fashion industry has seen in terms of accepting models of different sizes has helped Telethia to develop her career. At 6’3” tall she isn’t the size and shape that a traditional catwalk model might feature. However, when she’s on the runway she has a greater connection to women because she doesn’t fit the typical mould that the fashion industry has created. Her message to all women is that they should embrace their curves and love who they are today.
FabUplus applauds Telethia success as a model but also for her role in breaking down barriers in the industry.
